Dear Ms. Moskowitz,

Irving Moskowitz thank you for your December 15,2010 gift of$5,000 to Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). 2010 has been an extraordinary year of emergencies for MSF, stretching our organization to the limit. It is because of your support that we were able to respond with the scale and scope of activities required to meet the needs of our patients this year.

MSF Responds to a Rapidly Spreading Cholera Epidemic in Haiti: By early November 2010, the cholera outbreak in rural Haiti had spread from the north to the capital city ofPort-au-Prince where 1.3 million homeless earthquake survivors live in camps. As ofNovember 28th, the outbreak had sickened more than 77,000 people nationwide. MSF teams alone treated 41,000 people in over 20 cholera treatment centers around the country. Untreated, acute cases of cholera can kill in less than 24 hours.

MSF Brings Emergency Aid to Pakistan: At the end of July 2010, Pakistan experienced the worst floods it had seen in 80 years, affecting between 5 and 20 million people in the Swat Valley and causing widespread destruction to homes and infrastructure. Doctors Without Borders teams were already working in Pakistan, and in the three months following the floods, they provided more than 1,250,400 liters of clean water to affected communities in different parts of the country. We distributed a total of 57,714 relief item kits and 13,755 tents to 39,283 families.

Emergency medical care continues in Somalia despite violence: Intense combat in Mogadishu is straining our ability to treat the wounded at Dayniile Hospital on the outskirts of the capital. In a one month period between August and September 2010, Doctors Without Borders treated 500 war-wounded, 370 of them suffering from blast injuries and 130 from gunshot wounds.

These are only a few examples of the medical assistance we provide in almost 70 countries around the world. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the support o f our donors.

Each and every day our field staff use their skills and commitment to bring medical care to those who desperately need it. Thank you again for your generosity.

Very Gratefully Yours,

Sophie Delaunay
